Hamilton Beach CPM700 Commercial Stand Mixer, Silver

This is a really good machine. I have had mine about 10 years and it has been non-stop. I am pretty tough on it too. It has a 7 quart bowl, which makes it possible to do up to 3 batches of cookies at once. A real time saver. There is a cut-off switch when tilted and it will never start up unless you hit the green button. So you never have the flour going all over the kitchen. The speed knob turns smoothly with complete control. It has a lot of power to get through the toughest doughs. The bowl locks in very easily too. I finally thought it would be time to disassemble it a bit for a thorough cleaning and was surprised on its good internal condition. Other than its excellent performance, I like the fact that it is lightweight. Much easier to get in and out of cabinets than the other brands. My only request is to be able to get attachments, i.e. meat grinder, blender, pasta maker, etc. I have not been able to find any, and there are all the hook ups on the machine.

Zojirushi NP-HBC18 10-Cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker and Warmer with Induction Heating System, Stainless Steel

Leave it to the Japanese to over-engineer a rice cooker. And I mean that in a very good way!I was raised on rice and continue to eat it every day. For someone who cooks rice this frequently, the cost of the Zojirushi line is well worth it. I could not believe the difference it made in the taste, quality, and consistency of rice. Another key feature is that it is not a "one-size fits all" cooker as are most others. So you can program and adjust it to cook rice of a variety of types (brown, white, basmanti, etc.) and for different types of output (drier for western-type recipes, sticky for Asian or sushi). You can use the pre-sets or experiment to find the output style you like best. Most cheaper rice cookers are not flexible or adjustable at all -- simply an "on-off" button.Yes, there are far less expensive versions out there, but this is a very well-designed and constructed machine. The durability and sturdiness are apparent and it looks great. I've had less expensive versions, including the Cuisinart stainless steel rice cookers. Those look great, but the quality of the rice could not compare. (note: the Cuisinarts also require you to use a different ratio of water to rice than standard and thus come with a unique measuring cup -- good luck if you lose or break it or lose the manual listing the ratios. The Zojirushi cooks using standard ratios and has the water measures printed on the inside of the cooking bowl -- a great, handy feature.) As for the VERY…

Cuisinart SM-55BC 5-1/2-Quart 12-Speed Stand Mixer, Brushed Chrome

After burning out 2 hand mixers and 1 small stand mixer in the last 8 yrs, I decided to invest in something that would handle thick cookie dough. (They always broke at Christmas time when I made several batches of sugar cookie dough.) I did lots of online research into the different brands (I specifically was looking at the kitchen aide first, then viking, hamilton beach, and cuisinart). I was leaning toward the kitchen aide because so many of my family have one, yet they don't really use them for heavy tasks much. If I was going to commit counter space to this monster, I wanted to be able to use it for mixing bread dough as well and get rid of my bread machine. My budget leaned more toward the kitchen aide classic/artisan and not the kitchen aide pro. I eliminated the viking, hamilton beach because I couldn't find any local stores that carried them. I like to see the product before buying. Seeing the poor reviews for the lower end kitchen aides in regards to their ability to handle thick bread dough and longevity, I started to consider the cuisinart. It has a lower profile, so sits under the cabinets better. The tilt head is convenient and it locks up in place. (Some KAs have this feature too.) The machine is lighter than the kitchen aide. Most of the body is a metal composite that is not as heavy. Under the top cover of the machine it is a plastic composite. Since this is not a stress point on the machine, I don't think it is a major area to worry about. (I wouldn't use any…

Zojirushi BB-PAC20 Home Bakery Virtuoso Breadmaker

Our trusty, 18-year-old Zo was still going strong when the non-stick coating began to peel. When no replacement parts could be found, we faced the inevitable and began to look for a worthy successor. After much research, other brands seemed to have serious issues we hadn't had with our old workhorse, despite its age (it was a hard act to follow!). Plunking down mega-bucks for the Virtuoso took much soul-searching, especially after so many negative reviews of its predecessor, but we checked Amazon's price daily and took the plunge when it went on sale, since it could be returned if it was a dud. Surprisingly, this machine actually has exceeded our expectations; even 100% whole wheat bread, which in the ancestor Zo could be iffy, is perfect. In both 2 lb. and 1.5 lb. loaves, the crust is just right - not tough or hard; the top is golden and even; every loaf/cake, complex or simple, has been almost freakishly flawless (true, you are paying for those double paddles and top heater, but do they ever make a difference!). In true Zo form, it's simple to use, very quiet and stable, and finished goodies slip right out with minimal holes and cleanup. Paddles remain in the pan, not the bread, and separate easily after briefly soaking the cooled pan in warm water. A "Shape" stage can be used to remove the dough to specially form it or remove the paddles before baking (the splines will remain, but the resulting holes will be much smaller without the paddles), and raising the lid…

Factory-Reconditioned KitchenAid RKG25H0XER Professional HD 5-Quart Stand Mixer, Empire Red

My silver Professional HD KitchenAid Mixer has delivered years of service to me so far. I frequently use it to bake artisan french bread, and I would recommend it to anyone with a couple of caveats. First, it is possible for the stationary head of this mixer to loosen if you are mixing heavy bread dough or a full load of sausage. This mixer does have the power to mix a 6 cup bread recipe, but sometimes it will start to overheat, and it will shut itself off.As I mentioned, the head can also loosen if you are mixing a large amount of tough materials, such as ground sausage. I eventually fixed this head loosening problem by taking the mixer apart, and replacing the philips cross head screws with allen head hex screws and lock washers and bolting it town more securely.I have also performed lash adjustments on the motor positioning after a year of use to make the motor less grindy sounding. This worked well, and I found that this mixer does have a strong metal gear set in it to which I applied fresh lithium grease.I'm not giving this mixer a 5 star review because it isn't a Hobart mixer, but for the price this mixer is awesome, strong, and repairable. There are no weak parts inside it, so it is possible to adjust and repair this mixer. The strength of this mixer is in its construction, and as I said, I was able to repair it myself when it needed help. This is a telling quality. None of the parts have ever broken, and the over heating protection has prevented the mixer from destroying…

KitchenAid KP26M1XDP Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer, Dark Pewter

Mine died after one month past its warrenty. The shaft that holding the attachment was falling! Which you can't fix by yourself becasue it was air-compressed to the place. Sending back to the factory won't make sense. For one, it cost $150.00 or more. Secondly, it is doomed to happen again becuase it is a design flaw. Googled how to fix kitchenaid pro 600, you will be amazed by the numbers of people owning a broken Kitchenaid mixer.I should have seriously considered the negative reviews. I didn't realize that Kitchenaid was no longer made by Hobart which earns the previous models amazing reputation. Sad to have to add a big trash to the landfill.

SANYO GOPAN Premium Red SPM-RB1000(R)

I have only had my Gopan for a few days. This first couple days our Japanese friend was helping us to translate some of the basic instructions and the recipe for the gluten free rice bread. Once we understood the basic settings, and which measuring cups/spoons that came with it were what we needed, it was very easy. For the Gluten Free Rice Bread, there are very few ingredients needed. Rice, rice powder, water, sugar, salt, olive oil and yeast. We are trying to make a yeast free / gluten free bread, so it's just a little bit more difficult than the regular gluten free bread. Our first attempt with a yeast substitute didn't work out. Our second attempt with a yeast substitute did work, but the bread needed a little bit more leavening. However, it was edible, just a little more dense than it should have been and a little undercooked, due to the density. I warmed it up a little, put some oil and salt on it, and my kids loved it. My husband and I tried it too and both thought it was good. Just maybe a little sweet, so we will try less sugar than the recipe calls for next time. It was closer to the sweetness of a Japanese style of bread, so this makes sense.Inside the machine is a compartment that automatically releases the yeast and rice powder into the main area. You can also add fruit, nuts, etc. into this compartment.* Note for those trying yeast free bread in the Gopan: When you don't have the yeast replacement correct, the mixture will not leaven enough and the kneading setting…

BlendTec Home HPA-621-B The Professional's Choice 1500-Watt Programmable Blender and FREE Shipping

I purchased this blender after reading THE CHINA STUDY, EAT TO LIVE, and GREEN FOR LIFE (all Highly recommended and if you are buying this blender you'd be missing out if you didn't read these books, particularly GREEN FOR LIFE).All three books really drive home the importance of eating Greens (Swiss Chard, Kale, etc.)on a daily basis. For me, this was a challenge. The only way I could tolerate kale was to slather it with olive oil or butter and salt and cook it, thereby destroying most of the benefits. Even then I ate it dutifully and without pleasure. Then I read GREEN FOR LIFE and got the idea to blend up raw greens with bananas and other fruit into nutrient dense green smoothies. You need the high power blender for this sort of thing, other blenders can't handle it. Thank goodness the Blendtec was mentioned in reviews for GFL, or I would have never even known about it. I ordered it with fingers crossed. It was a lot of money to plunk down for a blender and I was a little scared I wouldn't be able to drink the green stuff. Not only did the blender perform like a dream, it makes a killer green smoothie--no taste of kale! The cost of the blender is worth it for this reason alone. Now I can get my daily intake of greens without having to endure it. It's actually delicious and gives you a buzz of energy way better than coffee.I'm telling you all this because I think that Blendtec has missed a major market demographic. The recipie book that comes with the blender can be discarded…

Bosch Universal Plus Mixer with Blender.Includes Cookie Paddles.

This product is amazing. I used to spend ten to fifteen minutes per loaf mixing in my old kitchenaid mixer. It was a chore to keep the dough mixing with that irritating dough hook, and I'd have to take it out once or twice to fold it a few times and try to even things out. With the Bosch mixer, I simply dump in the ingredients, turn it on, and leave for ten minutes. When I return, as long as I haven't mixed more than three loaves, I turn it off and leave the dough in the bowl. When the dough has doubled, I turn it on again for a couple minutes, then remove the dough and it is ready to shape for a final rise. This saves me over an hour compared to the kitchenaid. Mixing results are consistently excellent, and cleaning is a breeze, provided that you have a small scrub brush. In less than five minutes, using the scrub brush for only about fifteen seconds, it's cleaned and dried.

Bosch Universal Plus Kitchen Machine

Owning a cabinet-building business, my husband always says that you gotta have the right tools for the job. Yes, this mixer is pricey, but in the long run, it saves me time and arm strength and does the job far better than I could ever do. My arms ain't what they used to be, and trying to knead 12 cups of freshly ground whole wheat flour for any period of time can really wear you out. And I like to make better use of my oven being on, so I make 4 or more loaves at a time. This machine really handles the dough well. My bread rose so high from having a nice gluten formation from the kneading, that next time I'm going to omit the little extra the recipe calls for. Also made a nice pizzelle dough using the beaters. The machine isn't very loud, as I expected it to be. Wasn't bothersome at all. Very easy to take apart and clean. I would advise watching some youtube videos to see it in action. If anything, more to see what other attachments you might want to get with it to save on shipping (if any). Amazon (CSN Stores) offered a competitive (if not the lowest) price, and I was able to buy Amazon gift cards at Giant Eagle for the extra gas savings. Something to think about. You won't regret buying this.

Cuisinart SM-70BC 7-Quart 12-Speed Stand Mixer, Brushed Chrome

The Cuisinart mixer is a great buy. When we purchased the product it stated that it would take a week or two to receive but we received it within five business days which was a pleasant surprise. The mixer handles the task at hand without any problem. The only negative if there is one is the fact that due to the shape of the mixing bowl even though it has the room to mix four cake mixes at one time ... the narrowness of the bowl would put the mix above the mixer head itself and therefore would not properly mix the complete batch ... but it handles three cake mixes at a time without a problem. The unit itself seems light in weight, but so far it has proved to be a great asset in the kitchen and we would suggest buying the product without hesitation.
